Sash Curtains is a family run business which began life in 1984 when Managing Director Jenny Oates opened a market stall on Wakefield market, “We started by selling fabrics, accessories and haberdashery and over 13 years we built up a regular customer base. Because of the increasing requests for bespoke curtains and soft furnishings we decided to open a shop in Brighouse in 1997.”

After trading successfully in the shop for over 4 years Jenny took a brave step to expand the business and supply the trade as well as the consumer. This decision led to a move into a large factory unit on Tadman Street in Wakefield. Jenny explains, “We had built up many contacts in the trade and we felt that the future of our business was in supplying a quality bespoke curtain making service selling direct to leading UK fabric manufacturers, distributors, interior designers and retailers.” This move proved to be the right one as over the next 6 years the company has dramatically increased both turnover and staff.

Sash Curtains are now widely acknowledged as one of the leading companies in their field. “We are justifiably proud of the fact that most of our business comes to us from referrals. We are lucky enough to work for some of the biggest names in the industry and many of them have been with us right from the start.”
